about
My name is Yunyi and I am a pianist and harpsichordist based in the SF Bay Area. My area of focus is Western concert music, in both historically-informed and modern performance practices.
My artistic journey begins and ends with the question, "Why is this beautiful?" As a player of two keyboard instruments, one antiquated and one modern, I am continually split between the archaic and the contemporary. Some works from my repertory descend from distant societies that no longer exist, while others come from the lived and tangible society of today. Despite such extremes, the beauty of music has the surreal ability to transcend temporal, societal, cultural, and philosophical discrepancies. My forever mission is to understand why.
